Toothaches/Emergencies

Emergencies

Dental emergencies can happen at any place and any time. A true dental emergency consists of a tooth that has been knocked out of alignment or completely out of the mouth. If you or someone you know has been hit in the mouth, call our office immediately and start heading over to our office as soon as possible. The sooner the tooth is treated, the more likely we are to be able to save the tooth for you. If the tooth is out of the mouth, do not wash it off; put it in the patient’s mouth and get to the office within 20 minutes. If you have a jar of Save-A-Tooth solution, put the tooth in it. It is the best emergency treatment you can do. If you are only dealing with an injury to the face and not a concussion do not go to the hospital. They do not know how to treat a knocked out tooth. Even a broken jaw can usually wait but the tooth must be treated in 20 minutes to be successful.

Toothaches

Toothaches can be very painful and can affect your entire day, even making it difficult to fall asleep at night. Please give our office a call and we will do everything possible to see you that day. I’m sure you understand that we cannot give you a fee until we see the problem. We will be happy to give you a fee estimate before care is begun.  There are two main treatment options for most toothache if the pulp or nerve of the tooth is involved: extraction or root canal treatment.  We will discuss the options with you after we discover the reason for your toothache.
